Health Information Management (HIM

The Health Information Management (HIM) program trains students to organize and manage medical records in hospitals and clinics. Health information professionals ensure that patient data is stored correctly, protected, and available when needed for treatment and research.

Students will learn how to collect, store, and retrieve patient records using both paper-based and electronic systems. They will study medical terminology, coding systems, and data management principles to help keep healthcare facilities organized.

A key focus of the program is confidentiality and security. Students will be trained on how to protect sensitive patient information and follow legal guidelines regarding medical data. They will also learn about ethical issues in healthcare and the importance of privacy.

The program includes practical training in hospitals and health agencies. Students will gain hands-on experience working with medical databases, processing insurance claims, and handling patient files. They will also learn how to prepare reports for doctors, government agencies, and researchers.

Technology plays a big role in health information management. Students will be introduced to modern healthcare software, digital record-keeping systems, and data analysis tools to improve efficiency in medical institutions.

Graduates of this program can work in hospitals, clinics, health insurance companies, and research centers. With further studies, they can specialize in medical coding, healthcare administration, or health informatics.
